Harishchandragad
Harishchandragad is a vast fort spread in 15 kms east-west
This fort has many base villages
1) Khireshwar on Malshej ghat route(20 kms walk one side only thus to and fro makes it approx 40 kms walk in one day)
2) Easy route via Pachnai on the other side(6 kms walk thus 12 kms to and fro trek)
3 and 4) Kothale and Lavhali villages nearby Pachnai villages(walk of 15 kms in very dense forests thus making a 30 kms to and fro trek)
5) Via Sadhale ghat route:The difficult route via Kokan Kada takes 12 to 14 hours to reach Harishchandragad by this route via Belpada
The Malshej ghat route via Khireshwar is most popular because it is approachable from Pune and Mumbai by frequent buses
Pachnai and Kothale Lavhali route is convinient by only private vehicle(From Rajur,there is a ST bus around 9:30 am which takes you till Pachnai around 11:00 am but it is difficult to complete this trek in one day because there is no return bus from Pachnai in evening hence you have to descend by Khireshwar village and reach Malshej road to get bus to Pune/Mumbai or stay at Harishchandragad and take the 10:00 am bus to Akole from Pachnai)
Trek combinations from here:
1) Descend Harishchandragad via Pachnai and reach Kumshet.You can climb Ajoba and descend it via Dara ghat to reach Asangaon Shahapur
2)From Kumshet,you can further proceed via Katrabai Khind to reach Ratangad or Ghanchakkar-Muda and further reach Bhandardara and then return to Pune/Mumbai
3)Via Kothale->Lavhali,you can reach Karkai and Ambedara and reach Otur for bus to Mumbai/Pune
